Mrs. Lichtenberger (Mrs. L to all of us) earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College and her Master's degree in Reading from Canisius College. She joined the Academy staff in 1993. She became Principal in 2005 and was promoted to School Administrator in 2019. She lives in Lockport with her husband, Joey and they attend Evangel Assembly of God.
Mrs. Lena Patterson
Kindergarten and 1st Grade Teacher
Mrs. Patterson received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and an Master's degree in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College. She has taught in Parochial Schools (K-3); has created and implemented curriculum for 5 and 6 year olds at Calasanctius School for the Gifted; was Assistant Professor, teaching Kindergarten at the Campus School at Buffalo State College; has created and implemented curriculum in the West Seneca School System, teaching K-1 Multiage and Kindergarten before retiring.
She joined our staff in 2012, teaching the Pre-K program. She now teaches our Pre-K/K and First Grade program. She resides in North Tonawanda and belongs to the Renewal Church family in North Tonawanda.
Ms. Wendy Engert
2nd and 3rd Grade
Ms. Engert earned her Associate degree from NCCC in Liberal Arts and Bachelor of Science in Education from Roberts Wesleyan College. She joined the Academy staff in 1998. She resides in Gasport and attends First Baptist Church in Medina.
Mrs. Christina Poeller
Mrs. Poeller feels blessed to be joining our Elementary team this year as our 4th grade teacher. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College. She has enjoyed subbing at the school in the past and is very excited about teaching 4th grade this year. She lives with her husband (a graduate of the Academy) and their three children, who are all students at CAWNY. They attend Grace Bible Church in Newfane, where she has taught Jr. Church for nine years.
Mrs. Kristen Smith
(Head Teacher, K-5th Grade)
Mrs. Smith earned her Bachelor of Science from Roberts Wesleyan College. She joined the Academy staff in 1995, left to be home with her children and then rejoined the staff in 2006. She resides in Lockport with her husband and their two children. (Both of her children are CAWNY graduates.) They attend Community Bible Church.
Mr. Anthony Adamo
Middle School English, Math and History
High School Computer Coding and Animation
Mr. Adamo has earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Buffalo State College and has an A.A.S. in Horticulture from NCCC. He has served in his church's Sunday School, teaching 5th to 8th Grade. He has also served in Youth Group and now facilitates the newly-formed College Ministry at Bethesda Full Gospel Tabernacle where he attends church.
Dr. Joy Clancy

Dr. Clancy joined the staff in 2011. She earned her Bachelor of Science at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania in 2003. (She is also a licensed dental hygienist and worked as such in Pennsylvania before returning to Western New York and joining CAWNY's staff.)
While on staff at the Academy, she went on to earn her Doctorate in Educational Law in 2014. She lives with her husband and their three children in Lockport. Dr. Clancy and her family attend Evangel Assembly of God.
Mr. Doug Doores
High School Consumers Math, Personal Finance
High School Chemistry and Physics
Mr. Doores received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University. He began his career working with NASA on the Space Shuttle program and then worked as a Systems Engineer with General Motors. He currently lives in Pendleton with his wife, Amy, and attends Evangel Assembly of God.
Mr. Doores is also our Soccer Coach.
Mrs. Patricia Elias
High School Algebra I, Algebra II,
Geometry, AP Calculus and SAT Math
Mrs. Elias graduated from our school in 1997. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from the Buffalo State College. She joined our staff in September of 2005. She is our first alumni to return to become part of the staff. She lives in Sanborn with her husband and attends Greater Refuge Temple.
Mr. Arthur Evans

Economics and Geography
Mr. Evans earned his Bachelor of Arts from Hiran College in Ohio. He taught at Christian Heritage School in Tyler, Texas from 1980 to 1987. He was on the faculty at Charles Finney High School from 1991 to 1993 and Covenant Academy from 1993 until it closed in 2008. He served as principal at Covenant from 1989 to 1991. He currently lives on Grand Island with his wife and they attend New Covenant Tabernacle.
Mrs. Kali Morrow
Middle School and High School English,
American Literature, British Literature, ESL and Spanish
(Head Teacher, 6th - 12th Grade)
Mrs. Morrow has an Associate degree in Art in Pre-Elementary Education and a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies with a concentration in Creative Writing and Literature from SUNY Empire State College. She has worked with children in the community for the last twenty-five (25) years as a substitute teacher and a dance instructor. She joined CAWNY full-time in 2016.
Mrs. Morrow and her family attend Bethesda Full Gospel in Tonawanda.
Mrs. Morrow is also our Cheerleading Coach.
Mrs. Patricia Poeller
International Student Administrator
(Principal Designated School Officer for our International Student Program)
Mrs. Poeller has extensive experience in formal and Christian education. Her goal is educational excellence and the development of Christian character in the students at CAWNY. She serves as our International Student Administrator and is the Principal Designated School Officer for our International Student Program. Mrs. Poeller also serves on our School Board.
In the past, she has been administrator and teacher at Faith Christian School in Lockport and Dodge Elementary in Williamsville. She was also director of Faith Christian Home School and has held teaching positions at Amherst Christian Academy and Starpoint Elementary. Mrs. Poeller was actively involved in the research and development committee during the early years of the school.
She has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Daemen College and did her graduate work at the State University of Buffalo. She has also completed studies through Bob Jones University in Greensville, South Carolina.
She resides in Lockport with her husband, Jay. Their two sons and their daughter are CAWNY graduates. Their family attends The Chapel at Lockport.
Mrs. Cheryl Anderson
Elementary Special Education Aide
Mrs. Anderson received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from the State University of New York, College at Buffalo in 1994. She has worked for the North Tonawanda and Sweet Home School Districts. Mrs. Anderson also has sixteen (16) years experience working with children and families. She lives in North Tonawanda with her husband and daughter. They attend Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church.
Mrs. Tammy Farrington
Special Education Teacher
Mrs. Farrington earned her Bachelor of Science at Baptist Bible College in Pennsylvania. She received her Master's degree in Special Education in 2016 and is fully certified by New York State in Special Education. She previously taught at Christian Heritage School. She joined our staff in 2010. She lives in Tonawanda with her husband and son. They attend Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Aaron McDonald
CAWNY is excited to welcome back Mr. McDonald! Mr. McDonald taught Art (and 12th Grade Bible) at CAWNY during the 2008-09 school year.
Mr. McDonald received his Bachelor's Degree in 2012 in 3D Graphics and Video Game Art from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida (after receiving his associate degree in Fine Arts from Niagara County Community College). In addition, Mr. McDonald is an avid student of the Word, earning a Certificate in Theological Training in 2014. Mr. McDonald is also an alumni of the Class of 2001. He enjoys serving in children's ministries and currently attends Vanguard Church in North Tonawanda.
Mrs. Deborah Hogan
Mrs. Hogan has received both her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Music from SUNY Fredonia. She previously taught lessons at Matt's Music Store, right around the corner from CAWNY, on Oliver Street in North Tonawanda. Both her son and daughter are professional musicians. Interesting fact: Mrs. Hogan was once in the United States Marine Corps!

Our gym teacher has been working in a school setting for over 10 years. She started as a kitchen aid in LaSalle Preparatory School in 2008 and worked her way up to being head cook of a kitchen at Catholic Academy of Niagara. During that time, she received her child care certification through NYS OCFS (Office of Children and Family Services). In 2011, she began volunteering at The Baptist School in Tonawanda. During the first four years at The Baptist School, she attending online training courses in Elementary Education through Pensacola University. In 2012, she joined the staff at The Baptist School as 1st and 2nd Grade teacher and held that position until the school dissolved in 2017. She is currently pursuing an associate degree in Human Services at Erie Community College.
She and her family attend Lighthouse Baptist Church in North Tonawanda where she teaches Sunday School to K - 2nd Grade girls. She also leads the Wednesday night kids' ministry for K - 6th Grade with her husband.
Reverend Christopher Herman
Gym Teacher to 4th and 5th Grade,
Middle School Boys and High School Boys
Reverend Herman became a licensed minister in 2011. He also attended Family Church Ministry Training Center for two years. In addition, Rev. Herman has served in the US Armed Forces. He is currently the pastor of Family Church in Tonawanda, where he and his family serve the Lord together.
Mrs. Teresa Josey
Special Education Consultant
Mrs. Josey earned her Associate degree from NCCC and her Bachelor of Science and Master's degree from Niagara University, as well as a Post-Graduate degree in Advanced Placement of Special Education from Niagara University. She has New York State Certification in Birth-2nd grade Elementary Ed., 1st-6th grade Elementary Ed., Birth-2nd grade in Special Education and 1st-6th grade in Special Education.
She resides in Niagara Falls with her husband and three children. All three children graduated from CAWNY. They attend Colonial Village Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Michelle Carey
She has been working in the school's office for many years. Her smile and kind demeanor are a true asset to our Main Office.
Mrs. Carey has two children who attend CAWNY. She lives in Buffalo with her husband and children. Her family attends Renovation Church in Buffalo.
Mrs. Sandy Meyers
Mrs. Meyers received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1993. After raising her children, she worked for the Newfane Central School District as their District Clerk, working directly with the Board of Education. In 2009, she joined CAWNY as Bookkeeper and in 2019, was promoted to Business Administrator. She also runs the school's Snack Store and updates our website. She resides in Barker with her husband and sons. Two of her sons are graduates of CAWNY and others are current students. Mrs. Meyers and her family attend The Chapel at Lockport.
Our school is well-maintained by a dedicated volunteer staff, which includes Mr. Jay Poeller, Mr. Joey Lichtenberger and Mrs. Shelly Bailey. Without their assistance, our school couldn't have the professional appearance we value so much.
Our special events and fundraisers are organized by volunteer members of our PTO and what a great job they do! Thank you especially to Mrs. Susan Woodward, Mrs. Marcella Willmore and Mrs. Kathleen D'Angelis.
Our school could not have the sports programs that we enjoy here at CAWNY without the following volunteers: Mr. Michael Hacker, Mrs. Marcella Willmore, Mrs. Susan Woodward, Mr. David Willmore and Josh Mouton.
