Dear CAWNY Parents:
As you know, there is much information on the news concerning community health and school.
Our staff met yesterday to discuss being proactive in keeping our staff and students healthy.
Today, Friday was the end of Quarter 1. CAWNY is thankful for the 10 weeks of 5 days a week in-building learning that helped students begin this year. Unfortunately, we will have to take a small break in in-building learning for seven (7) school days, beginning November 16, 2020. CAWNY is planning on re-opening on Monday, November 30, 2020, but may have to postpone until we can open in a safe and healthy way.
Kindergarten through 5th Grade - Work Packets and books will need to be picked up by parents from noon to 3 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020. Google classroom starts on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. The students will be learning via Google Classroom on November 17, 19 and 24 (25, 26 and 27 are holidays).
6th Grade through 12th Grade - Today, students will take home books and this informational letter. Grades 6th-12th will have assignments for Monday and Tuesday (November 16 and 17). Then Google Classroom classes begin Wednesday, November 18. The students will be learning via Google Classroom on November 18, 20 and 23 (25, 26 and 27 are holidays). (Monday, November 16, 2020, there will be staff in the building.)
Please note: Niagara County is currently not in a Yellow Zone. (The Yellow Zone means that the numbers of infection are rising and practices will be put into place to slow the infection rate.) If a school is in a Yellow Zone, they must test 20% of students for every week the school is in a Yellow Zone. Superintendent Woytila (of North Tonawanda City School District) told NT families to prepare for child-care in the near future. Thereby signaling they, too, will be going to fully remote learning.
Remote Learning Schedules can be found here.
All students were given a username and passcode to access the Goggle Classroom on the internet and any device: Ipad, desk top computer, laptop, or cell phone.
Student must be on at the time of their core class with their teacher. Attendance counts in the grading for Quarter 2.
Assignments are due at the designated date.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact me (716-946-7694). We will be working together to ensure the best education for your child during this time. Please remember, God is faithful and good and we can trust Him. He is still our way maker, promise keeper, and light in the darkness!
