University / High School Dual Credit Program
for Qualified Students
Christian Academy of Western New York has partnered with the University of Northwestern, a Christian university in St. Paul, Minnesota, to give CAWNY's qualified students an opportunity to earn college credits as they earn their High School credits. These online courses are provided by the University of Northwestern.
The cost is $200.00 per college credit. (Full refund provided if course is dropped within the first two weeks; pro-rated refund after that point).
You will be responsible for the purchase of textbooks (usually around $40) from the UNW bookstore.
There is no application fee.
In order to apply for the program, students must have a CAWNY GPA of 2.75 and an ACT score of 18 or SAT score of 2000. (In order to stay in the program, cumulative GPA must remain 2.0 or higher.)
Students must complete each course in one semester. If a student does not complete the course, it will be reflected in their grade.
Each student who participates will be given time in our Library/Computer Lab each day to complete their course.
Students will be "enrolled" at the University of Northwestern and will receive a UNW email and ID number.
If you would like to take a look at the course options, please keep in mind that:
Independent Study courses are online courses where a student sets his/her own pace. Coursework must be complete by the end of the semester, but the student may pace themselves as they please. A suggested course schedule will be provided.
Online Learning Group courses are online courses where a student must meet weekly deadlines for their instructor.
All courses are to be completed in one (1) semester.
