Mrs. Patricia Poeller

Administrator/Superintendent

Mrs. Poeller has extensive experience in formal and Christian education.  Her goal is educational excellence and the development of Christian character in the students at CAWNY.  She was appointed to her current position in 1993.

In the past, she has been administrator and teacher at Faith Christian School in Lockport and Dodge Elementary in Williamsville.  She was also director of Faith Christian Home School and has held teaching positions at Amherst Christian Academy and Starpoint Elementary.  Mrs. Poeller was actively involved in the research and development committee during the early years of the school.

She has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Daemen College and did her graduate work at the State University of Buffalo.  She has also completed studies through Bob Jones University in Greensville, South Carolina.  

She resides in Lockport with her husband, Jay.  Their two sons and their daughter are CAWNY graduates.  Their family attends Victory Christian Church in Lockport.

Mrs. Cindy Lichtenberger

Elementary and Middle School Principal

Mrs. Lichtenberger (Mrs. L to all of us) earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College and her Master's degree in Reading from Canisius College.  She joined the Academy staff in 1993.  She lives in Lockport with her husband, Joey.  They attend Evangel Assembly of God.

 

 

 

Mr. Brian Rosman

High School Principal

Mr. Rosman earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Fredonia in 2003.  From 2004 to 2008, he taught Middle School Bible, Science and Health at Covenant Academy in Tonawanda.  From 2008 to 2011, he lived in China and studied Mandarin Chinese at the Kunming College of Eastern Language and Heilongjiang University.  From 2012 to 2015, he taught several Bible classes and ministered in Mexico with Joshua Revolution.  From 2015 to 2017, he taught Bible and English to international High School students at Christian Central Academy in Williamsville.  He is more than halfway through his Master of Science degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

He lives in Lockport with his wife and two children.  They attend CrossRiver Tabernacle on Grand Island.

  

  

Mrs. Lena Patterson

Kindergarten and 1st Grade Teacher

Mrs. Patterson received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and an Master's degree in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College.  She has taught in Parochial Schools (K-3); has created and implemented curriculum for 5 and 6 year olds at Calasanctius School for the Gifted; was Assistant Professor, teaching Kindergarten at the Campus School at Buffalo State College; has created and implemented curriculum in the West Seneca School System, teaching K-1 Multiage and Kindergarten before retiring.  

She joined our staff in 2012, teaching the Pre-K program.  She now teaches our Pre-K/K and First Grade program.  She resides in North Tonawanda and belongs to the Evangel Assembly of God family.

Ms. Wendy Engert

2nd and 3rd Grade

Ms. Engert earned her Associate degree from NCCC in Liberal Arts and Bachelor of Science in Education from Roberts Wesleyan College.  She joined the Academy staff in 1998.  She resides in Gasport and attends First Baptist Church in Medina.

Mrs. Christina Poeller

4th Grade

Mrs. Poeller feels blessed to be joining our Elementary team this year as our 4th grade teacher.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College.  She has enjoyed subbing at the school in the past and is very excited about teaching 4th grade this year.  She lives with her husband (a graduate of the Academy) and their three children, who are all students at CAWNY.  They attend Grace Bible Church in Newfane, where she has taught Jr. Church for nine years.

Mrs. Kristen Smith

5th Grade

Mrs. Smith earned her Bachelor of Science from Roberts Wesleyan College.  She joined the Academy staff in 1995, left to be home with her children and then rejoined the staff in 2006.  

She resides in Lockport with her husband and their two children.  (Both of her children are CAWNY graduates.)  They attend Community Bible Church.

Mrs. Cheryl Anderson

Elementary Special Education Aide

Mrs. Anderson received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from the State University of New York, College at Buffalo in 1994.  She has worked for the North Tonawanda and Sweet Home School Districts.  Mrs. Anderson also has sixteen (16) years experience working with children and families.  She lives in North Tonawanda with her husband and daughter.  They attend Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church.

Mr. Anthony Adamo

Middle School  English, Math and History

Mr. Adamo has earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Buffalo State College and has an A.A.S. in Horticulture from NCCC.  He has served in his church's Sunday School, teaching 5th to 8th Grade.  He has also served in Youth Group and now facilitates the newly-formed College Ministry at Bethesda Full Gospel Tabernacle where he attends church.

 

 

Dr. Joy Clancy

Middle School and High School Sciences

Dr. Clancy teaches Science 6, Science 7, Science 8, Biology (HS) and Earth Science (HS).

Dr. Clancy joined the staff in 2011.  She earned her BS at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania in 2003.  (She is also a licensed dental hygienist and worked as a such in Pennsylvania before returning to Western New York and joining CAWNY's staff.)

While on staff at the Academy, she went on to earn her Doctorate in Educational Law in 2014.  She lives with her husband and their three children in Lockport.  Dr. Clancy and her family attend Evangel Assembly of God.

Mrs. Tammy Farrington

Special Education Teacher

Mrs. Farrington earned her Bachelor of Science at Baptist Bible College in Pennsylvania.  She received her Master's degree in Special Education in 2016.  She previously taught at Christian Heritage School.  She joined our staff in 2010.  She lives in Tonawanda with her husband and son.  They attend Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to teaching, Mrs. Farrington is also the girls volleyball coach.

  

Mr. Doug Doores

High School Math and Sciences

Mr. Doores teaches Consumer's Math, Personal Finances, Chemistry and Physics.  He is also our Soccer Coach.

Mr. Doores received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University.  He began his career working with NASA on the Space Shuttle program and then worked as a Systems Engineer with General Motors.  He currently lives in Pendleton with his wife, Amy, and attends Evangel Assembly of God.

Mrs. Patricia Elias

High School Math

Mrs. Elias teaches Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and Pre-Calculus.

Mrs. Elias graduated from our school in 1997.  She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from the Buffalo State College.  She joined our staff in September of 2005.  She is our first alumni to return to become part of the staff.  She lives in Sanborn with her husband and attends Greater Refuge Temple. 

Mr. Arthur Evans

High School History

Mr. Evans earned his Bachelor of Arts from Hiran College in Ohio.  He taught at Christian Heritage School in Tyler, Texas from 1980 to 1987.  He was on the faculty at Charles Finney High School from 1991 to 1993 and Covenant Academy from 1993 until it closed in 2008.  He served as principal at Covenant from 1989 to 1991.  He currently lives on Grand Island with his wife and they attend New Covenant Tabernacle.

Mrs. Kali Morrow

High School English and ESL

Mrs. Morrow has an Associate degree in Art in Pre-Elementary Education and a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies with a concentration in Creative Writing and Literature from SUNY Empire State College.  She has worked with children in the community for the last twenty-five (25) years as a substitute teacher and a dance educator.  Mrs. Morrow attends Bethesda Full Gospel in Tonawanda.

 

  

 

Reverend Christopher Herman

Middle School and High School Boys  Gym Teacher

Reverend Herman became a licensed minister in 2011.  He also attended Family Church Ministry Training Center for two years.  In addition, Rev. Herman has served in the US Armed Forces.  He and his wife have three boys and recently moved to Tonawanda from Jamestown, where they had been attending Family Church in Jamestown since 2005.  He is currently the pastor of Family Church in Tonawanda, where he and his family serve the Lord together.

In addition to teaching Boys Bible and Gym, Rev. Herman is also the Football Coach.

Mr. Aaron McDonald

Art Teacher

CAWNY is excited to welcome back Mr. McDonald!  Mr. McDonald taught Art (and 12th Grade Bible) at CAWNY during the 2008-09 school year.

Mr. McDonald received his Bachelor's Degree in 2012 in 3D Graphics and Video Game Art from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida (after receiving his associate degree in Fine Arts from Niagara County Community College).  In addition, Mr. McDonald is an avid student of the Word, earning a Certificate in Theological Training in 2014.  Mr. McDonald is also an alumni of the Class of 2001.  He enjoys serving in children's ministries and currently attends Vanguard Church in North Tonawanda.

Mrs. Deborah Hogan

Instrumental Music

We welcome Mrs. Hogan to our school this year.  We are thrilled to have her joining our staff!

Mrs. Hogan has received both her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Music from SUNY Fredonia.  She previously taught lessons at Matt's Music Store, right around the corner from CAWNY, on Oliver Street in North Tonawanda.  Both her son and daughter are professional musicians.  Interesting fact:  Mrs. Hogan was once in the United States Marine Corps!

Mrs. Michelle Carey

Office Personnel

Mrs. Carey is our full-time Office Secretary.  She has been working in the school's office for three years.  Mrs. Carey has two children who attend CAWNY.  She lives in Buffalo with her husband and children.  Her family attends Renovation Church in Buffalo.

Mrs. Sandy Meyers

Bookkeeper/Website/Snack Store

Mrs. Meyers received her Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1993.  She worked in law firms until 2006 when she accepted a position with Newfane Central School District as their District Clerk, working directly with the Board of Education.  In 2009, she felt the Lord calling her to join the staff at CAWNY.  She now works as our Bookkeeper.  She also runs the school's Snack Store and updates our website.  She resides in Barker with her husband and sons.  Two of her sons are graduates of CAWNY and others are current students.  Mrs. Meyers and her family attend The Chapel at Lockport.

Mrs. Teresa Josey

Special Education Consultant

Mrs. Josey earned her Associate degree from NCCC and her Bachelor of Science and Master's degree from Niagara University, as well as a Post-Graduate degree in Advanced Placement of Special Education from Niagara University.  She has New York State Certification in Birth-2nd grade Elementary Ed., 1st-6th grade Elementary Ed., Birth-2nd grade in Special Education and 1st-6th grade in Special Education.

She resides in NIagara Falls with her husband and three children.  All three children graduated from CAWNY.  They attend Colonial Village Presbyterian Church.

Our school is well-maintained by a dedicated volunteer staff, which includes Mr. Jay Poeller, Mr. Joey Lichtenberger and Mrs. Shelly Bailey.  

Without their assistance, our school couldn't have the professional appearance we value so much.
